This is a Franchesina. Bourdain ate it on his trip to Porto, so we did too. It was so intense but in a good way. Cheese, bread, ham, meat, more meat and bread. And of course it sits in some kind of gravy-like sauce. To be honest, I was so full from eating Portuguese hot dogs (another Bourdain feature) that I didn’t want to eat it. I had no room in my stomach for it. But Stefanie wanted to try it. We ordered one to split. She was full too, so she barely ate her half. I devoured the whole thing. I’ve never felt like such a fat bastard in my life. This sandwich is so intense that the paper they put town on the table says “Exercise ….you’ll have to wait.”
